唯一新困难：双重限制

一句结论可能同时受条件和程度限制，例如 may be useful when...。干扰项只要删除其中一层，就会显得比原文更强。本课只训练把两道“护栏”都抄进答案。

自拟短文

Automated summaries may be useful when readers already understand the subject and use the summary to review, rather than to replace the source. Even under those conditions, the tool can omit exceptions, so important decisions still require checking the full document.

题目：When are automated summaries most defensible according to the author?

A. Whenever a reader wants to avoid the original.
B. As review aids for informed readers who still verify important details.

两道护栏

第一道是使用条件：读者已有背景，summary 用于复习而非替代。第二道是可靠程度：仍可能漏例外，重要决策要查全文。B 同时保留。

A、C 删除两道限制；D 把“工具可能漏例外”改成只有原文完全无例外才可使用，增加了作者未给的绝对条件。

双重限制笔记

看到 may...when...，写成“可能性 + 条件”；看到 even under those conditions，再补“残余风险”。正确选项常比一句原文长，因为它需要合并两处限制。

为什么不能把 may be useful 改成 is reliable？

**答案：**may 保留不确定性，useful 只表示有用途，不等于准确可靠；同时原文明确指出会漏例外。
