How do you feel? Emotion adjectives describe the way people feel.
Positive emotions (正面情绪):
- happy: feeling good
- glad: happy about something specific
- excited: very enthusiastic
- pleased: happy and satisfied
- proud: feeling good about your own achievement
- calm: peaceful, not nervous
- surprised: something unexpected happened
Negative emotions (负面情绪):
- sad: feeling unhappy
- angry: feeling mad
- worried: thinking something bad might happen
- nervous: feeling stressed before something
- tired: needing rest
- bored: not interested, wanting something to do
- afraid / scared: feeling fear
Emotion + Preposition (情绪+介词搭配):
- angry with someone: I'm angry with my brother.
- angry about something: I'm angry about the broken window.
- afraid of something: She's afraid of dogs.
- worried about someone/something: He's worried about the test.
- proud of someone/something: I'm proud of my sister.
- interested in something: I'm interested in astronomy.
Talking about feelings:
A: You look excited! What happened?
B: I got an A on my test. I'm so happy!
A: Congratulations! I'm proud of you.
B: Thanks! But I'm also a little nervous about tomorrow's presentation.
A: Don't worry. You'll do great.
Feelings change:
Emotions are temporary—they come and go. We use "I feel..." or "I'm feeling..." for current mood. We use "I felt..." for past feelings.
Practice: Write 4 sentences about how you felt today. Use positive and negative emotion words, plus correct prepositions.
