At school and work, there are many specific words for subjects, roles, and daily activities. Knowing them helps you talk about your day.

School subjects (学科):

• Chinese / English / foreign language: language classes
• mathematics / math / maths: numbers and calculations
• physics: forces, energy, motion
• chemistry: elements, reactions, substances
• biology: living things, plants, animals
• history: past events and civilizations

Work and office (工作与办公室):

• job / occupation: what you do for money

• employee: worker hired by company
• employer: company or person hiring you

• attend class: go to class and listen
• do homework: school work after class
• prepare for exam: study for test
• hand in assignment: give teacher completed work
• attend meeting: be present at work meeting
