Travel and transportation words help you get around in English-speaking places. Whether you're on a plane, train, or bus, these words will help you travel smoothly.
Air travel (航空旅行):
- airport: the place where planes take off and land
- terminal: the big building where passengers wait
- check-in: show ticket and give luggage to airline
- boarding pass: paper you need to get on the plane
- security check: baggage scan before entering boarding area
- departure gate: the door where you get on the plane
- boarding time: when you can get on the plane
- take off: plane leaves the ground
- landing: plane touches down
- baggage claim: where you pick up luggage after flight
Train and subway (火车与地铁):
- station: building where trains stop
- platform: long flat area where you wait for train
