借东西与帮忙 Favors
约 10 分钟
Borrowing, lending, asking for favors, and returning things - these daily conversations happen all the time.
Borrowing something (借东西):
A: Hey, can I ask you a favor?
B: Sure, what do you need?
A: Do you have a laptop charger I could borrow for a few hours? Mine died and I need to finish my essay.
B: Sorry, I'm using my charger right now for my own work. But wait, my roommate has the same laptop as you - let me ask him!
A: That would be great, thanks!
B: (Texts roommate) Perfect, he said you can borrow it! His room is 402, tell him I sent you.
A: Awesome, I'll go get it now. I'll return it tonight before 8 PM.
B: No rush, but he needs it tomorrow morning at the latest.
A: Got it, I'll make sure it's back tonight. You're a lifesaver!
Lending and returning (借还):
A: Here's the book you lent me. Thanks for letting me borrow it! It was really good.
B: No problem! Did you like the ending? I thought the last chapter was surprising.
A: Me too! I didn't see that plot twist coming at all. Do you have the second book in the series?
B: I do! Want to borrow that one as well?
A: Yes please! I'll read it quickly and get both back to you by the weekend.
B: Take your time, no rush at all. I've already read them twice anyway.
Asking for help (请求帮助):
A: Excuse me, I'm sorry to bother you but could you help me for a minute?
B: Sure, what do you need?
A: I'm trying to move this heavy table to the other side of the room, but it's too heavy for me alone.
B: No problem at all, I'll help you. Where should we put it?
A: Over there by the window, please. One, two, three... lift! Perfect.
B: There we go. Is that where you wanted it?
A: Yes, thank you so much! I couldn't have done it without your help.
B: It was my pleasure! If you need help moving anything else, just ask.
Common favor phrases:
- "Can I ask a favor?"
