The Lion and the Mouse
A lion was sleeping under a tree. A little mouse ran over his paw. The lion woke up and caught the mouse with his big claws.
「Please let me go!」 said the mouse. 「Maybe I can help you one day.」 The lion laughed. 「You? A little mouse like you?」 But he was in a good mood, so he let the mouse go.
Some days later, the lion was caught in a hunter's net. He roared and roared, but he could not get out. The mouse heard him and ran to help. She bit the ropes with her sharp little teeth, one by one. At last the net broke, and the lion was free.
「You were right,」 said the lion. 「Even a little mouse can help a big lion.」
Even a little friend can be a great friend.
