When you travel, you need to ask for things, give directions, and understand transportation announcements. These dialogues will help you get around.

At the ticket counter (买票):

A: Good morning! Where can I buy a train ticket to Shanghai?
B: Right here, sir. One-way or round-trip?
A: One-way, please. What time is the next train?
B: The next high-speed train departs at 10:30 AM from platform 5. It arrives in Shanghai at 3:15 PM.
A: How much is it?
B: Standard class is 553 yuan. Business class is 1748 yuan.
A: Standard class, please. Can I pay with WeChat?
B: Yes, the QR code is on the screen. Please scan to pay.
A: Thank you. Which platform is it?
B: Platform 5. Please be there 15 minutes before departure.

Asking for directions (问路):

A: Excuse me! I'm lost. Could you tell me how to get to the National Museum?
B: Sure! The easiest way is subway Line 1 to Tian'anmen East. Take exit C. Walk 300 meters north.
A: How long does it take by subway?
B: About 25 minutes from here.
A: Alternatively, can I take a bus?
B: Bus 52 goes directly there too, but it might take 45 minutes in traffic.
A: Thank you so much!

On the bus (在公交车上):

A: Does this bus go to Wangfujing?

A: How many stops from here?
B: Let me count... That's 7 stops ahead.
A: How much is the fare?
B: It's 2 yuan flat fare. Tap your card when you get on.
A: Thank you. And how will I know when we arrive?
B: The announcement plays in both Chinese and English. Watch for the name.
