阅读实战二：推理强度与条件边界

本课任务

下面材料为原创训练材料，难度和命题方式参照考研英语一，但不复制任何真题或转写内容。本课只训练笔试阅读与表达，不含听力。

材料

Independent audits of automated hiring systems are often presented as a cure for hidden bias. Audits can indeed expose patterns that an employer failed to notice, but their findings depend on the questions asked and the data made available. A system may appear fair across broad demographic groups while disadvantaging a smaller group that the audit never examined. Moreover, an audit conducted before deployment cannot capture every way in which applicants and managers will adapt to the tool. The reasonable conclusion is not that audits are ceremonial. It is that they are periodic instruments of inquiry, not permanent certificates of safety.

逐层解析

文章先承认审计能暴露偏差，再连续加两项条件：审计分组和数据范围决定能看见什么；上线前审计无法穷尽真实使用中的适应行为。结论用 not...It is... 把立场限定为“定期调查工具”，而不是“一次认证永久安全”。推理题只能推出持续复查有必要，不能推出所有自动招聘都偏见严重。

可评分要点

may appear fair 只表示表面结果可能成立；cannot capture every way 是否定穷尽能力，不是否定任何预测价值。做题时把 every、permanent、all 标为强词，逐一寻找同强度证据。

高危误区

用“审计不完美”推出“审计无用”，是把程度限制偷换为价值否定。

限时训练法

先在不看解析的情况下完成课时下方单选、多选和应用题，并在答案旁写出证据位置或句法依据。单选只选一个最充分结论；多选必须逐项核对，漏选和多选都算错；应用题要求给出指定关键词以及它们之间的关系。完成后用“材料现象—所用规则—最终结论”三栏复盘，不能只抄答案。

建议首次训练限时十二分钟，复盘不限制时间；隔二十四小时遮住解析重做。若第二次仍错，必须把错因改写成一条在考场上能执行的检查动作。
